Giveaway: Don't Even Think About It By: Sarah Mlynowski

Today  I am lucky enough to have an awesome giveaway of a book that I am reading right now that I am really enjoying and it is so much fun Don't Even Think About It By: Sarah Mlynowski. I am giving away one arc to a lucky U.S. only winner. Enter the rafflecopter below and good luck!

Published: March 11th, 2014
Goodreads Summary:

Contemporary teen fiction with romance, secrets, scandals, and ESP from the author of Ten Things We Did (And Probably Shouldn't Have).

We weren't always like this. We used to be average New York City high school sophomores. Until our homeroom went for flu shots. We were prepared for some side effects. Maybe a headache. Maybe a sore arm. We definitely didn't expect to get telepathic powers. But suddenly we could hear what everyone was thinking. Our friends. Our parents. Our crushes. Now we all know that Tess is in love with her best friend, Teddy. That Mackenzie cheated on Cooper. That, um, Nurse Carmichael used to be a stripper.

Since we've kept our freakish skill a secret, we can sit next to the class brainiac and ace our tests. We can dump our boyfriends right before they dump us. We know what our friends really think of our jeans, our breath, our new bangs. We always know what's coming. Some of us will thrive. Some of us will crack. None of us will ever be the same.
So stop obsessing about your ex. We're always listening.

Review: Being Sloane Jacobs By: Lauren Morrill

Title: Being Sloane Jacobs
Author : Lauren Morrill
Published : January 7th, 2014
Source : Netgalley
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:

Meet Sloane Emily Jacobs: a seriously stressed-out figure-skater from Washington, D.C., who choked during junior nationals and isn’t sure she’s ready for a comeback. What she does know is that she’d give anything to escape the mass of misery that is her life.

Now meet Sloane Devon Jacobs, a spunky ice hockey player from Philly who’s been suspended from her team for too many aggressive hip checks. Her punishment? Hockey camp, now, when she’s playing the worst she’s ever played. If she messes up? Her life will be over.

When the two Sloanes meet by chance in Montreal and decide to trade places for the summer, each girl thinks she’s the lucky one: no strangers to judge or laugh at Sloane Emily, no scouts expecting Sloane Devon to be a hero. But it didn’t occur to Sloane E. that while avoiding sequins and axels she might meet a hockey hottie—and Sloane D. never expected to run into a familiar (and very good-looking) face from home. It’s not long before the Sloanes discover that convincing people you’re someone else might be more difficult than being yourself.

My Thoughts:

I was super excited to read this one, I loved her debut Meant To Be, it was so adorable and fun and I was hoping that I loved Being Sloane Jacobs just as much. I didn’t love it as much as Meant To Be but, it was still adorable and fun. It had a movie vibe and you had to suspend a bit of belief and get over the fact that this probably couldn’t happen in real life. But, it was still so much fun.

When 2 Sloane Jacobs have a chance meeting in Canada they changed each other’s summers forever. Sloane Emily is a figure skater who isn’t so sure that going back into competitive figure skating is something she wants to do. Sloane Devon is a ice hockey player who can’t handle the pressure of playing good enough to get into college. They decide to switch places and they each go  to the other’s sports camp for the summer and fun, romance, and lessons are learned.

I loved getting to see each of the girls in the different elements trying to be the other girl because they were complete opposites. They both learned so much about each sport and found so much of themselves through switching places and that made it so much fun.

Overall, Lauren Morrill created another book that gives you the good feelings but, it lacked a bit compared to Meant To Be. If you are looking for a read that makes you feel good, definitely check this one out.

What Would I Do If I Had Telepathic Powers?

In honor of the release of Don't Even Think About It By: Sarah Mylnowski I wanted to share what I would do if I had telepathic powers.

So it's funny that this topic is something I am discussing today because my boyfriend and  I were just talking about this, same topic. Telepathic powers is something that I would be hesitant to have. The reason that I would have a hard time with this is because I don't know if I would want to know everything that the people around me are thinking.

I know if I could read people's  I would try to use my powers for good but, I think that everyone would probably use it in some no so good ways at the same time. I mean I definitely would want to know what my boss was thinking and sometimes knowing what is going in his head because at times I have absolutely no idea.

I also know that at work knowing exactly what my boss and co-workers are thinking would be an advantage, it would definitely make me job easier and I would love to know exactly what everyone was thinking about me and what they wanted from me although, I do think that you would have to get tough skin to be able to handle this power. People's thoughts are something very personal and private and knowing what they are thinking may hurt your feelings so I definitely think it would be a power that would teach you to be more humble and help you not take yourself too seriously.

“A tour-de-force comic narration that will leave you gasping in awe—if you ever catch your breath from laughing.”—E. Lockhart, author of We Were Liars
"Mlynowski continues to make comedy look easy in this smart and frequently hilarious novel, which features a collective first-person narrative that fits the premise like a glove... Filled with heartbreak, hilarity, and some brutal truths, Mlynowski’s novel will leave readers thinking about the gaps between our private and public selves and the lies we tell others and ourselves." --Starred Review, Publishers Weekly
"Mlynowski hits all the right notes. There's enough levity to keep readers laughing, but this is far from fluff--the real-life commotions are engaging, and the characters are fully developed. The story is funny, sweet and true to life, as readers have come to expect from Mlynowski. Her teens are emotional without being drama queens, amusing but not twee. A perfect read."--RT Book Reviews
