Top Ten Tuesday: Top Ten Books of 2013 (Really Top !4)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
This week's topic is Top Ten Books of 2013, can't wait to share their has
been some great ones!'

1.  Unravel Me (Shatter Me #2) By: Tahereh Mafi

I think that this one will be on a lot of people's lists but, I loved how much more we got to see of Warner in this one it made it impossible for me to choose a team that I wanted to be on because I was really surprised by him in this book and Chapter 62 whew! I can't wait to read Ignite Me!

2. The Madman's Daughter By: Megan Shepherd

This book completely surprised me, I didn't know if I was going to like it because of the historical aspect, I am just not a fan of that genre and I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as i did. It was creepy and it kept me reading until the last page, I have read the sequel which was different but, I enjoyed as well not as much as this one but, it was good as well.

4. The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) By: Richelle Mead

If you follow me then you know that Richelle Mead is seriously one of my favorite authors ever and this book was my favorite so far. I loved the Sydrian action so much and it gave me everything that I was hoping that I would finally get through this series.

5. The Elite (The Selection #2) By : Kiera Cass

I am a huge fan of this series and I know that some people don't like it but, it is one of my favorites, I love Maxon and America and all I can hope for is the happy ending that I really want.

6. Parallel By: Lauren Miller

It seemed like 2013 was the year for time travel and parallel universe books and this one was by far my favorite, it was a great standalone and I definitely recommend it if you are looking for an engaging read.

7. Scarlet (The Lunar Chronicles #2) By: Marissa Meyer

I read both of the books in this series this year and I loved these retellings. They were exactly what I was looking for when I think of a retelling, the original fairytale written with a great twist!

8. Fangirl By: Rainbow Rowell

Rainbow Rowell had an amazing year and she is definitely become one of my favorite contemporary authors. I loved fangirl so much and I know that as fellow book nerds we definitely felt a relation to Cath and I could not put this one down, all I wanted to do was to read this one and I definitely can't wait to read more from her soon.

9. All Our Yesterdays (All Our Yesterdays #1) By: Cristin Terrill

I was so looking forward to this book this year and it was one of the few that didn't disappoint me, I honestly haven't read many time travel books so I  was excited to read this one, I loved it and I think I read it in just a day because I could not put it down. It is part of this new trend in YA of duologies which really excites me because it's nice to have a bit of break from the series.

10. Pawn (Blackcoat Rebellion #1) By: Aimee Carter

I love the dystopian genre and although I have been getting a little bit tired lately of the genre I still read so many of them. I had read Aimee's Goddess trilogy and enjoyed it, it wasn't my favorite but I liked it. I was definitely curious about it and when I started this one I did not put it down. It was fast paced and interesting and I cannot wait to read the next book, so excited to continue with this series!

11. The Naturals By: Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I am a crime tv junkie so I knew this one would be right up my alley, I don't know if it is a standalone or not but, it was another one sitting read that I definitely loved.

12. Pivot Point (Pivot Point #1) By: Kasie West

I had seen so many great reviews of this book and I was definitely curious about it, I knew what the plot was to an extent but, this book surprised me at where it went, I am dying to read Split Second seriously dying!!

13. Crown Of Midnight (Throne Of Glass #2) By: Sarah J. Mass

It was so good, I read this one immediately after finishing TOG and I loved it just as much as the first. So much more Chaol, swoon I loved him definitely a must read series!

14. The Fiery Heart  (Bloodlines #4) By: Richelle Mead

Aaahhh I loved being in  Adrians head, so much  Sydrian action it had me swooning every other page, Mead knows how to write a great romance along with everything else. Can't even explain how good this one was!

Review: Also Known As By: Robin Benway

Title: Also Known As (Also Known As #1)
Author: Robin Benway
Published: Feburuary 26th, 2013
My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:

Being a 16-year-old safecracker and active-duty daughcrime-solving ter of international spies has its moments, good and bad. Pros: Seeing the world one adventure at a time. Having parents with super cool jobs. Cons: Never staying in one place long enough to have friends or a boyfriend. But for Maggie Silver, the biggest perk of all has been avoiding high school and the accompanying cliques, bad lunches, and frustratingly simple locker combinations.

Then Maggie and her parents are sent to New York for her first solo assignment, and all of that changes. She'll need to attend a private school, avoid the temptation to hack the school's security system, and befriend one aggravatingly cute Jesse Oliver to gain the essential information she needs to crack the case . . . all while trying not to blow her cover

My Thoughts:

Also Known As was the perfect book for me to pick up and I definitely needed it. I had just finished Allegiant and I needed something that was light and fun and this book was definitely exactly that! I know that Ally Carter is someone who also writes about spies but, I read Heist Society  and I didn’t love it so I was definitely interested in Also Known As and I had heard some good things about her writing.

Maggie has grown up different from any other children in the world, she is the daughter of international spies and she has been all around the world with them and instead of getting new toys for her birthday, she was given lock picks and has become one of the best safe crackers in the world. Now that she is 16 she gets her first solo assignment, infiltrate a high school befriend a specific boy and get into his father’s safe to keep the spies in her agencies names from being leaked to the public, sounds easy right? well it isn’t as easy as Maggie expects and it made for an adorable story.

I loved Maggie, she had never been to high school like a normal girl, but she wasn’t afraid to jump right in, I know how scary high school was for me and I was just a normal girl.  She was funny and I loved getting to know her throughout the book. Her mission wasn’t as easy as she thought it would be and she definitely gained more from it than she ever expected that she would. The secondary characters were just as great as Maggie, I loved each one and I really enjoyed reading such a light and fun book.

Overall, if you are looking for something fun then you should definitely check out Also Known As it was a great book for an easy read and I really enjoyed reading it and I can’t wait to read the sequel which I got approved for on netgalley.

Cover Reval: Whisper By: Chelsea M. Cameron

I am excited to participate in the cover re-reveal for Chelsea  M. Cameron, I have read a few of her books and I really enjoy her writing.

BOOK SUMMARY:
People think I'm crazy. Maybe I am, since I've been able to talk to spirits for as long as I can remember. They are the forgotten, the souls who have unfinished business and can't cross over. I help them, or at least I try to. There's this one in particular, Jack, I call him, who's been following me around a lot. Usually they tell me what they need to do and move on. Not him.

It isn't until he brings another spirit, Tracy, the victim of an unsolved hit-and-run accident, that I know for sure he's something more than just your average spirit. Then I start seeing him. And feeling his touch. And falling for him.

In our quest to get justice for Tracy and help her move on, Jack and I become something more than just a dead boy and a living girl. I'm just waiting to see what happens next…

Title: Don't You Forget About Me
Author: Kate Karyus Quinn
Published : June 10th, 2014
Goodreads Summary:

Welcome to Gardnerville.

A place where no one gets sick. And no one ever dies.

Except...
There’s a price to pay for paradise. Every fourth year, the strange power that fuels the town exacts its payment by infecting teens with deadly urges. In a normal year in Gardnerville, teens might stop talking to their best friends. In a fourth year, they’d kill them.

Four years ago, Skylar’s sister, Piper, was locked away after leading sixteen of her classmates to a watery grave. Since then, Skylar has lived in a numb haze, struggling to forget her past and dull the pain of losing her sister. But the secrets and memories Piper left behind keep taunting Skylar—whispering that the only way to get her sister back is to stop Gardnerville’s murderous cycle once and for all.

My Thoughts :

I am super curious about this one although aspects of it remind me of The Waking Dark By: Robin Wasserman that I just finished and I hated it lol but, I have her book Another Little Piece and have heard amazing things about it and this cover is just so pretty!
