Review Beautiful Lies By: Jessica Warman

Title: Beautiful Lies
Author: Jessica Warman
Published: August 21st, 2012
My Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
Goodreads Summary:

Rachel and Alice are an extremely rare kind of identical twins—so identical that even their aunt and uncle, whom they’ve lived with since their parents passed away, can’t tell them apart. But the sisters are connected in a way that goes well beyond their surfaces: when one experiences pain, the other exhibits the exact same signs of distress. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other immediately knows something is wrong—especially when she starts experiencing serious physical traumas, despite the fact that nobody has touched her. As the search commences to find her sister, the twin left behind must rely on their intense bond to uncover the truth. But is there anyone around her she can trust, when everyone could be a suspect? And ultimately, can she even trust herself? Master storyteller Jessica Warman will keep readers guessing when everything they see—and everything they are told—suddenly becomes unreliable in this page-turning literary thriller.

My Thoughts:

Jessica Warman has created an awesome psychological thriller that was filled with so many twists and turns I don't even know where to begin. Beautiful Lies is one of those books that when I finished it I had to sit down and think about everything that is happening, even once the end had came and went the book still left me with a million unanswered questions, wondering what parts of the story were what I thought and which were not what the reader thought. Throughout the book, just when I thought I understood what was going on Warman would turn around and throw a curveball and everything was changed. I enjoyed this book and I also didn't enjoy this one. so many times I became confused with what was going on and following along with the story but, it also caught my attention and kept me reading until the very last page.

Beautiful Lies tells the story of a pair of identical twins Alice and Rachel, they aren't your average twins either, when they were in the womb they shared a placenta and a amniotic sac, it is rare that both of them even survived. They are both completely different from each other, we have Alice the smart and responsible one and then there is Rachel the rebellious one. One night while they are both at the fair, one of the twins mysteriously disappears and takes the reader on one wild ride of deception, secrets, and lies. It hard to say too much about this book, without giving all the thrills away so that is as much as you get to know.

Overall, this book was definitely an interesting read and I would call it a psychological thriller that was god to read but, confusing with all its twists and turns. I recommend this book to people who enjoy movies like the Butterfly Effect, where you think you know the story, but it turns out that you don't know it all.

Happy Reading!
Kristin
